A Pink Panta event report

NEW YEAR’S EVE AT WOLKENBURG.FROM PIANO TO SEVEN-PIECE BAND.

For a New Year’s Eve gala at Cologne’s Wolkenburg, we developed an individual 1970s soul concept, from a small musical opening to a seven-piece band with three singers.

A musical brief with its own direction

THIS EVENINGNEEDED ITS OWN PROGRAMME.

The gala brief was clear: plenty of danceable 1970s soul. Several discussions, including two meetings on site, established how this musical focus would run through the evening.

This became an additionally booked Chameleon concept. The live programme was extended for the specific booking, and music for the transitions was carefully selected in advance.

From arrival to the dance programme

PIANO FIRST.THEN THE WHOLE BAND.

A pianist played solo as guests arrived. Vocals and piano then came together; the music remained understated during the meal. The prepared playlist connected the individual live sections.

A seven-piece band then took the stage for the gala and dance programme: Laura, Julia and Ron on vocals, plus four instrumentalists.

Musical preparation instead of a standard set

PLANNED TOGETHER.REFINED ON SITE.

On the event day, a lunchtime rehearsal allowed the band to run through songs and refine their playing together. The extended band programme included three 45-minute sets; together with the smaller formats, Marcel describes almost four hours of live music throughout the evening.

An individually prepared playlist was agreed for the transitions. No DJ was used for this booking. The client supplied stage, audio and lighting equipment.

What this performance shows

A CONCEPTTHAT SUITS THE OCCASION.

Marcel remembers a full dance floor and very positive feedback. For him, this booking shows how specific musical requests, smaller formats and a larger band can create a coordinated evening.

The 1970s soul programme was an individual extra for this gala. For your celebration, we clarify the musical focus and actual scope afresh.
